The rubber band was patented in England on March 17, 1845 by Stephen Perry, who was a 19th century British inventor and businessman. His corporation was the Messers Perry and Co, Rubber Co Manuf London, which made early products from vulcanized rubber.And, oh yeah -- Happy St. Patrick's Day.
